Orientation to the School and Its Degree Programs
If you are interested in receiving an orientation
to the School of Social Work BSW or MSW programs or just want more
information, contact Tammy
Freelin, Student Services Coordinator, to set up an individual
time to meet and discuss the MU School of Social Work and what it
has to offer you.
Advising on degree programs
Each student enrolled in the School of Social Work
is assigned a Faculty Advisor to assist them with many aspects of
their educational plan. Advisors are also excellent resources for
career, job opportunities, and specialization questions. It is strongly
recommended that students make an appointment to meet with their
advisors at least once each semester, especially before Registration
to ensure the best course to the desired degree. Advisors can be
reached by e-mail, phone, or signing up for an appointment on the
Advising Schedules posted outside their doors prior to Preregistration
each semester.
To learn whom your Faculty Advisor is, contact the
Main Office at (573) 882-6206. If you’re new to MU, transferring
in to the School of Social Work, or have coursework and requirement
questions about our degree programs, contact Tammy Freelin to set
up an individual time to discuss your plan of study.
Registration
Continuing undergraduate students may obtain their
Registration form, containing their registration passcode from their
Faculty Advisor. Continuing graduate students do not require a Registration
form or registration passcode to register. If you are a continuing
student, click here for the Registrar.
All social work students (undergraduate through graduate) may register
for courses in person at 208 Brady Commons, through PAWS (Phone
Access with Students) by dialing 882-3700, or myZou
during designated Registration/Add/Drop periods. First-time freshman
or students on probation must register in person at 208 Brady Commons.
It is advised that all students make an appointment
to meet with their Faculty Advisor prior to registration each semester.
Advisors can be reached by e-mail, phone, or signing up for an appointment
on the Advising Schedules posted outside their doors prior to Preregistration
each semester.
The School of Social Work BSW program participates
in the MU Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS). This system is an
automated record of a student’s progress toward completion of a
degree. DARS reflects the distribution of all academic credit earned
toward degree completion, including credit from MU, transfer credit
(including equivalencies if appropriate), and courses currently
in progress. Students can access a copy of their individual Degree
Audit through myZou, their
Faculty Advisor during Registration, or by contacting Tammy
Freelin.
