Faith Wemhoff is an MSW student at the School of Social Work. Faith's BSW field placement was completed at Stubbins Youth Center in 2007.
Q. How did you first learn about the profession of social work?
A. I have a cousin who was a Social Worker at Children's Division when I was growing up. I job shadowed her in high school because I knew I wanted to eventually work with children and adolescents.
Q. What have been the most valuable aspects of your educational experiences so far
at the MU School of Social Work?
A. There are a lot of valuable aspects of my educational experience. I'm am studying abroad in South Africa this coming summer with the MU School of Social Work. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! My field placement was very beneficial. The faculty and staff at the School of Social Work are very supportive and informative. They are always encouraging students to get involved in various activities and organizations.
Q. What do you hope to do after you graduate?
A. I plan to become a LCSW and work with children and adolescents who have mental illnesses or developmental disabilities.
Additional Comments
A. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed money to the School of Social Work Alumni Association fundraiser! The Alumni Association raffled a watch in order to raise money for a social work scholarship and I won the prize! The money was used to pay for my books and extra fees this semester. It was very helpful, especially since I recently quit my full time job in order to focus more on graduate school. Thanks again!
