Geraldine Dickey is a doctoral student at the School of Social Work. Geraldine's field placements have included St. Mary's Psychiatric Unit in Centralia, Illinois, and Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Q. How did you first learn about the profession of social work?
A. During my undergraduate work, an advisor told me about the BSW program at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois.
Q. What have been the most valuable aspects of your educational experiences so far at the
MU School of Social Work?
A. The most valuable aspects of my educational experiences at MU have been the opportunities to work as a research assistant with the Interdisciplinary Center on Aging and as a teaching assistant for the School of Social Work.
Q. What do you hope to do after you graduate?
A. I hope to land a faculty position at a teaching university.
