Rebekah Brown is a clinical therapist at Family Counseling Center of Missouri. She received her MSW from the University of Missouri in 2000.
Q. Can you describe your work history?
A. I have worked in a variety of settings, but here are some of the highlights! AIDS Outreach Center, Fort Worth, TX (1995-1996); Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center, Columbia, MO (1997-2002); Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Dallas, TX (2002-2003); Boys & Girls Club, Fort Worth, TX (2003-2004; Family Counseling Center, Columbia, MO (2004-Present); University of Missouri, Columbia, MO (2008 - Present). Most of my social work positions have held the responsibilities of Clinical Case Manager, Supervisor, Program Facilitator; and currently my position at the Family Counseling Center is as a clinical therapist. I am an adjunct professor with the School of Social Work, as well.
Q. What are the typical opportunities you provide to student interns?
A. At our agency, we try to accommodate our student intern's clinical areas of interest. Opportunities can range from: intake assessments; individual, couple, family and group therapy; and program development.
Q. What has been the most rewarding aspects of your field instructor/volunteer work so far with MU School of Social Work?
A. The most rewarding aspect as a field instructor is the opportunity to "give back" to students what the school gave to me as a graduate student. As a field instructor, I am able to provide students an opportunity to explore their possible career interests, practice clinical skills with clinical supervision and help them develop professionally as a social worker. This is a worthwhile investment to the betterment of our profession.
