![]() |
Barbara Banks is a MSW student at the School of Social Work. Barbara completed her field placement at the Center on Adolescent Sexuality Pregnancy and Parenting (CASPP) in August 2009. Barbara also works as a residence hall coordinator for the University of Missouri.
Q. How did you first learn about the profession of social work?
A. I first learned about the profession of social work through my mom. She works as an advocate at Legal Services. She is not a social worker but she works with them all the time. From the time I was in high school she thought I should enter the profession of social work.
Q. What have been the most valuable aspects of your educational experiences so far at the MU School of Social Work?
A. The most valuable thing about my experience at MU so far has to be the connections I have made with my advisor and with my faculty liaison during my field placement. They always challenge me to do more and to really think about my academic and professional goals.
Q. What do you hope to do after you graduate?
A. I do not know specifically what I want to do after graduation but I think I have it narrowed down to three choices: 1.) work in higher education administration 2.) work for Planned Parenthood 3.) work for the City of Columbia.
Thanks for taking the time to talk about your experiences with us, Barbara.
