Clinical Instructor/Assistant Professor

Position Description: The position is a part time, 20 hour per week, 9 month, non-regular appointment.
Responsibilities include:
- Consult on field placement and student related problems, concerns, and grievances to insure appropriate resolution.
- Support and develop strategies to encourage the integration of field work and classroom content.
- Lead a Field section, teach an Integrative Seminar, provide supervision, or teach classes as needed in the fall and spring semester.
- Assist in developing new field placement sites and maintaining existing placement relationships.
- Organize, plan and facilitate orientations and events for students and Field Instructors.
- Attend and present field information in program orientations and School events.
- Evaluate student placement choices, work/volunteer history, and learning style to best match students with available agencies and Field Instructors for practicum placements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of an MSW; 6 years post MSW social work experience, including experience with field education, specifically: Social Work field administration, Social Work field teaching, and/or substantial supervision of social work students in field placements. Strong written and verbal skills are necessary. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple demands and responsibilities are important. Knowledge of the social service delivery system in Boone County and the State of Missouri is an asset.

Research Assistant/Associate Professor

The School of Social Work at the University of Missouri invites applications for one or more positions of Research Assistant/ Associate Professor. Teaching is not required, though up to 20% of the appointment can be funded by the School of Social Work and the Masters of Public Health Program for teaching if desired. This appointment does not lead to tenure.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in a Social Science such as Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, or other relevant discipline; and a record of external funding including federal funding.
Preferred Qualifications: Funded research and publications in areas such as health or behavioral health, substance abuse, housing, criminal justice, or poverty and families. We seek a person able to conduct original basic research, program evaluation, research trials and/or intervention research. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership traits, with the ability to represent the School of Social Work in interdisciplinary research partnerships and with state and community agencies.
Appointment Term: This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position subject to annual renewal based on continued self-funding through research grants. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the School of Social Work. Salary will be commensurate with background, qualifications, and experience. Expected start date is August 1, 2012 but could begin anytime after January 1, 2012.
