Enhance the Learning Environment
The school’s future facility is centrally
located on campus in the former student
health center. In the past decade, master’s enrollment
has increased by 93 percent, and undergraduate enrollment
is up
30 percent.

In 2003, the School of Social Work was awarded
its permanent home, the former student health building on the west
side of Francis Quadrangle. This facility represents the fulfillment
of a long-term strategic goal to accommodate continued growth and
productivity, and to provide a facility for faculty and students
that is commensurate with those of peer institutions.
The upcoming move to our new facility coincides
with many other accomplishments, including major advancements in
research productivity; successful implementation of a doctoral program;
increased interdisciplinary activity at the campus, national and
international levels; and an increase in enrollment in both the
master’s and undergraduate programs.
Our new location will afford the school numerous
benefits and will aid in recruiting and retaining the highest-caliber
faculty and students; presenting opportunities for student and faculty
interaction; and providing a backdrop for synergistic exchange.
The facility is ideal as a permanent home for
the School of Social Work in size, location, layout, condition and
amenities. We now seek private gifts for the finishing touches that
will create the best possible learning environment within the building.
Support from alumni and friends will allow
the school to construct classrooms and community meeting space,
install computer networking capabilities, replace outdated climate
control systems and complete other needed improvements.
